What you need before you start
  • Your TV model number, from the label on the back or the TV’s settings (see Step 1).
  • A Samsung account or LG account signed in on the TV, so the app store works.
  • A steady internet connection, ideally an Ethernet cable plugged into the TV.
  • Your IPTV login from your IPTV free trial: Xtream Codes details or an M3U link.

Step 1: Find Your Samsung or LG TV Model and Software Version

Samsung and LG TVs do not all offer the same IPTV apps. The model year and software version decide what you will see in the store, so check them first.

  1. Samsung (Tizen): open Settings → Support → About This TV to see the model code and software version. Update with Settings → Support → Software Update → Update Now.
  2. LG (webOS): open Settings → All Settings → Support → TV Information for the model and webOS version. Update with Settings → All Settings → Support → Software Update.
  3. Write down the model and send it to us if you want a recommendation for the right IPTV app for your smart TV.

Step 2: Install an IPTV App on a Samsung Smart TV

  1. Press Home on the remote and open Apps.
  2. Select the magnifying glass (Search) at the top and type the name of the IPTV app we suggested.
  3. Open the listing, check the developer and price, then select Install. When it finishes, select Open. Choose Add to Home to keep it on your Home bar.

Samsung notes that some apps are not available on older models. If the app is missing, ask us for an alternative rather than following instructions written for another TV.

Step 3: Install an IPTV App on an LG TV (webOS)

  1. webOS 24 and 25 (2024 and 2025 models): press Home, open Apps, then select the search icon at the top right and type the app name.
  2. webOS 5.0 to 23: press Home, open LG Content Store (or Apps), search for the app and select Install.
  3. webOS 4.5 and earlier: open LG Content Store from Home, search, then select Install.

If an LG app will not install, check free storage and that Settings → All Settings → General → Location → LG Services Country is set to Canada. LG lists a wrong service country as a common cause of app store problems.

Step 4: Activate the IPTV App and Add Your Login

  1. Open the IPTV app. Many IPTV apps for smart TVs show a MAC address or device key on the first screen. Keep it on screen.
  2. Follow the app’s activation step if it has one. Some smart TV players charge their own activation fee, separate from your IPTV Vera plan.
  3. Add your playlist: enter the Xtream Codes server address, username and password, or the M3U link we sent, exactly as written. Some apps add the playlist on their website using the device key.
  4. Restart the app and wait for live TV, movies, series and the TV guide to load.

Step 5: Test IPTV on Your Smart TV

Watch a few live channels in English and French, start a movie on demand and open the TV guide. Titles available in 4K play in 4K on a 4K TV; the rest play in HD or FHD. If the picture freezes, check the connection under Settings → General → Network → Network Status (Samsung) or Settings → All Settings → General → Network (LG), then read our IPTV buffering fix.

IPTV on Samsung and LG TVs: Common Questions

Which IPTV app works on a Samsung Smart TV?

It depends on the model year. Several IPTV players are listed in the Samsung Apps store. Send us your model code and we will suggest one that accepts your IPTV Vera login.

Can I watch IPTV on an older LG TV?

Often yes, through the LG Content Store, but older webOS versions show fewer apps. If your TV has no suitable app, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box plugged into HDMI is a simple fix.

Do smart TV IPTV apps cost extra?

Some do. A smart TV player can charge its own activation fee. That fee goes to the app maker and is separate from your IPTV Vera plan, which starts at $19 CAD for 1 month on 1 device.
